EDWARD TUDOR POLE – ‘THE PEN IS MIGHTIER’
in conversation with Cathi Unsworth
Edward Tudor Pole shares behind the scenes of the punk rock world in his new memoir ‘The Pen Is Mightier’, in a special SHAKE THE HIGH ROAD conversation with host Cathi Unsworth (the revered author of ‘Defying Gravity’ and ‘Bad Penny Blues’)
RALPH MOORE – ‘ON TOUR’
in conversation with Emily Dust
‘On Tour’ offers a candid look at the UK dance music scene through the eyes of seasoned journalist and music consultant, Ralph Moore. In this unmissable SHAKE THE HIGH ROAD conversation with host Emily Dust (a highly respected DJ, presenter, podcaster and radio host), Moore will recall some of the defining years of dance music and music magazines. Covering mainly the 90s and 00s but also taking us up to lockdown, Moore shares his experiences from the heart of the industry, working on magazines like Muzik and Mixmag and interviewing the likes of Bjork and the Chemical Brothers.
ELANOR MOSS
An “emotionally transatlantic” talent with family roots in Lincolnshire and Baltimore, Elanor draws on folk influence from homes familiar and felt. She uses songs to turn over the nuances of life lived in relation to others, taking inspiration from the British folk canon and American one alike. With heroes including Judee Sill and Joni Mitchell as well as Sibylle Baier and Vashti Bunyan, her subject is always people in all their lovely flawed-ness.
SAINT RONNIE
Saint Ronnie is a London-based alternative rock act whose music explores character-driven narratives with occasional tongue-in-cheek lyrics and hints on a taste for the bizarre. Drawing on folk and blues music, Saint Ronnie presents a nerve-racking blend of seriousness and humour, tenderness and discomfort. Fans of Tom Waits, Leonard Cohen or Nick Cave will find much to love here!
SOUNDCHECK: A COMMUNITY OF CHESS AND MUSIC LOVERS
To finish the evening in St John’s Church Hall, we’re going to have a lovely session where amazing music and the world’s greatest game will come together. Come join for a game against a fellow festival-goer – all with a super-friendly atmosphere. Where strategy meets sound – Soundcheck is a monthly gathering of chess and music lovers, a space where deep thinking and deep tunes go hand in hand. This is a night for everyone: the players, the listeners, and the simply curious. Whether you’re here to make your next move or lose yourself in the music, Soundcheck is about connection beyond the digital world – fostering conversation, creative expression, and community. You can expect DJs to dig deep into their collections, spinning disco delights, cosmic curiosities, and Balearic bangers – sounds you wouldn’t typically hear out, delivering a soundtrack for the weird and the wonderful, where rhythm flows seamlessly from the decks to the chessboard.
