JoeJas (10pm)
JoeJas is a rapper and producer (when producing he goes under the alias HairyMuffinMan) – he’s been rapping since he was 11 and started production at 17 because the beats he was on didn’t showcase the full vision he had for his music. He put out his self-produced debut album ‘Planet’ in 2016, taking influences from punk, jazz, hip-hop & R&B, and blending them all in one. It’s going to be a lively vibe on the ground floor of the Luna!
Zelt (8.45pm)
London-based alternative/electronic trio mixing new wave clank with acid squelch and SWANA twang.
Quenta (7.45pm)
Karlost stared at the bedroom wall thinking, “how the hell did I get here?….” but music is powerful therapy – it can be lifesaving. The pain and heartbreak of family breakdown, the shared need to find camaraderie and a reason to continue living, brought two souls together by a chance meeting at a music festival. Quenta was conceived. Their music turns life experiences of loss, love, failure and beauty into narratives. The result is a savage blur of musical styles across trip hop, electronica, hip hop and post punk – with a mean alternative indie streak. It has been described as a bit Gorillaz, a bit The Streets, a bit Busdriver or a bit Wolfgang Press – while not actually sounding like any of them. Hearing it live, it’s Vaudeville meets CGBGs, with the no-fucks-given genre-hopping of The Heavenly Social or The Big Beat Boutique. Fully independent and with an album’s about to drop – now is the time for Quenta to be heard.
DECKMUSIC (5.45pm)
Classic pop music passed through a distortion field of several decades of disappointment and painfully-learnt lessons. A duo combining synths, field recordings, multi-layered harmonies and whistling, producing a sound somewhere between early Simple Minds, Brian Eno and Nick Cave. DECKMUSIC explore themes around nature, loss, family and reconnection, and forms the latest phase of a sprawling creative project that began in a school physics lesson in a Portacabin over 30 years ago. Their debut EP will be released in summer 2024.
Austel (3.30pm)
Austel – aka Annie Rew Shaw – is a Devon-born London-based artist and producer crafting introspective, brooding music led by ethereal vocals and intimate lyricism. Influenced by a wide range of artists including Bon Iver, Thom Yorke, Cocteau Twins, Jon Hopkins, Nick Cave and Lykke Li. Austel fuses her background in classical music and songwriting with ambient textures, cinematic soundscapes and contemplative electronica. Her self-released EPs ‘Unfold’ and ‘Cold Love’ received plaudits from the likes of BBC 6 Music, The Line Of Best Fit, and BBC Introducing. Austel’s single ‘Beds Of Stone’ was co-produced with Grammy-award-winning producer and engineer Guy Massey (The Beatles, Manic Street Preachers, Richard Hawley), and featured on Spotify UK & IE Fresh Finds, RTÉ, Amazing Radio & BBC Introducing. Her highly-anticipated debut album was released in February 2024. ‘Haunting and moody’ – BBC 6 MUSIC
Joseph Bell (2.30pm)
Joseph Bell released his debut EP ‘Dancing Days’ in November 2020, instantly captivating listeners and online publications with his ‘dream-like’ melodies and reflective lyrics. His song ‘Overload’ gained radio play from Scott Mills on BBC Radio 1, with his subsequent single leading to a live session for BBC Introducing Shropshire. Having built up a loyal following on the London live scene with gigs at iconic venues such as Ronnie Scott’s and the Troubadour, Bell released his second EP ‘Hits’ in July 2023, showcasing a darker alt-pop sound, recording another full-band live session for BBC Introducing in November.
